Violence and Abuse
The majority of WHS's work focuses on the issues of violence and abuse. In particular, attention is given to how sexual abuse in childhood has affected women in their adult life and the effects of violence and abuse on mental health.
Our roles include:
- developing and disseminating resources eg: pamphlets (see publications section)
- providing training opportunities to human services workers
- Training on responding to csa, domestic violence, worker self care
- Friday Forums & Tuesday Seminars
- providing counselling for women who experience mental health issues where there is a history of having been subjected to violence and abuse
- undertaking projects
