PROJECTS
Country Work
Women's Health Statewide has identified rural women and workers as a group that we wish to extend our services to.
WHS attends major country events to promote our current work focus. We often go to these events with other women's services to share costs (eg Women's Information Service, Women's Legal Service, Working Women's Centre).
When we attend country events we coordinate visits with other health workers in the area to network on common issues and the explore ways of enhancing their current work. Part of this work involves maintaining extensive relationships over a number of years with key workers in thse regions.
WHS workers attend Rural Field Days in the Riverland, Paskeville and Cleve where our services are promoted to both country women and workers. In 2005 we will be visiting Paskeville in September.
The Women's Shed Project in Oodnadatta is a partnership between Northern & Far Western Regional Health Service, Dunjiba Council, Oodnadatta Health Service & WHS. This project aims to improve the health & well being of community women through arts health promotion activities. An Action Plan has been developed for the upgrade of the shed so that activities can commence. Recently workers visited Oodnadatta for meetings with community and other stakeholders. We are awaiting the outcome of funding applications to further this project.
